Hurricane

Hurricane Matthew was the first category 5 in the Atlantic Ocean in nine years.  It also went from a tropical storm to a category 5 in only 36 hours.  A category 5 has winds of 156 miles per hour or stronger.


It may affect our area toward the end of this week with strong winds, high surf and rip currents.


Hurricane Matthew is located at latitude 17.8 N and longitude 74.4 W as of 5am Tuesday morning.  It is moving to the north at 9 mph. It is predicted to move towards our area into Saturday.
