Biome Parade

Fifth Grade Biomes
By: Caitlin C. and Logan.K
Get ready for the biome float parade! Fifth graders are researching biomes in their classrooms. The main biomes are Tundra, Taiga, Desert, Rainforest, Temperate Forest, Deciduous Forest, and finally Coral Reef. The fifth graders will type or write their notes and put it all around the biome. They can also make educational bookmarks to hand out to students. Then they will create parade floats of their biome to roll through the halls. Other Ogden students sit in the halls and look at the biome floats. The notes will be due December second and hopefully the parade will follow very soon after that.
Mrs. Masters, is excited about this annual parade And she hopes her students are too.  The fifth grade biome floats are a great way to teach the ecosystem curriculum in a fun interactive way.  Not only do they just research the ecosystem but they also research the climate, animals, habitat, lifestyle of certain animals, adaptations, and finally interdependent relationships.
When it comes to making the floats there is a few things that you will need.  Wheels are necessary when making a float because it has to move around easily.  The float will need a sturdy base so that all your hard work does not collapse.  Once you have these things covered, the rest is up to you (except for the animals and plants, wouldn't want a parrot underwater.)
We also heard the school looks forward to this event every year! They like seeing the floats and  they can’t wait to do it when they get to fifth grade. enjoy it very much and it looks and sounds very fun to  Hopefully the fifth graders who are doing it will do! The teachers will not see the biomes because the biome floats will be made at home. The only hard part is trying to figure out how to make you biome move. It has to be able to move so you can roll it through the halls.
