Grass on Ogden's Field

At long last Ogden grows green grass on the soccer field. People first began to notice that the grounds were greening up in June because that is when the grass was planted. The school installed the grass by having the maintenance people come and dump soil on the field. Then they spread the soil and aerated the field. The definition of aerated is to introduce air into a material. The seed was then planted and they watered it over the summer (they asked visitors to stay off the ground). The school can not put fertilizer or other grass growing products due to some regulations so we will see how the grass does by the end of the year. And if needed will place new sod. Mrs. Bruestle said that we installed the grass so kids wouldn’t kick up dirt and track it in the school.
Some people noticed the dogs on the field. Was Ogden thinking of changing its beloved stingray mascot to a dog? We learned that the wooden dogs in the field were to scare away Canadian Geese (that was a relief!) The dogs worked and so far no geese have come back.We hope the field does well so the school can stay clean for years to come.
